Members of the volunteer team are the face of the Festival and undertake a range of tasks including exhibition invigilation, stewarding film screenings, welcoming visitors and providing information, supporting special events, as well as helping to gather audience feedback. Volunteer tasks are organised to suit volunteers’ own interests as much as possible, making it a valuable opportunity and a chance to see and learn.
For those thinking about a career in the arts, it’s an opportunity to find out more; for those who love film, it’s a chance to see new cinema that is not available elsewhere; and for everyone, it’s a chance to meet new people and make connections.
No specific experience is necessary – we ask only for a passion for film and the town of Berwick. Volunteering with BFMAF offers a reputable development opportunity for those looking to gain skills working in: art and artists’ moving image, hospitality, festivals and events, customer service, film exhibition.
The festival runs from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th March between 10 am and 10 pm. Various shifts will be available across the weekend and we work with each volunteer’s availability to assign shifts.
Anyone aged 18 and over is welcome to register for the role.
Applications from those based in and locally to Berwick are particularly welcomed, whether you have volunteered with us before, or if it is your first time at the Festival.
