Half Memory

In Half Memory, Ufuoma Essi continues an exploration of embodied ways of knowing. Moving through various urban geographies, across both space and time, images bounce back and forth creating a temporal interplay between past and present. Dreamlike images of public spaces, populated by blurred figures, work with the film’s elliptical rhythm to explore Morrison’s concept of re-memory. And through a soundscape composed by artist Shamica Ruddock, the author’s voice becomes a spectral presence speaking wisdom that becomes the work’s guiding force.
