Welcoming BFMAF’s newest team members!

Welcome Ane Lopez, Dawn Bothwell, Miranda Mungai and Millie McRobbie, all joining us ahead of the 19th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival this March!

 

Ane Lopez

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival’s 2023/24 Programming Fellow is Ane Lopez. A curator and artist based in Glasgow, she has previously worked as film programmer for Femspectives and Glasgow Short Film Festival and she is a board member of Document Human Rights Film Festival. Ane works as the Programme Facilitator for the artist-run initiative Market Gallery and is the co-founder of A+E, a collective of artists working together towards a post-oil vision. She is also currently working on setting up an artist residency for contemporary art practitioners with a focus on ecology in the heart of the Bamff Wildland in East Perthshire.

 

 

Dawn Bothwell

Dawn Bothwell joins as Public Programmer. She was previously Programme Director at the Newbridge Project, Newcastle. Dawn has worked as an artist, curator, and researcher producing projects that explore site, with a particular interest in alternative regional histories. She also makes music solo as Pentecostal Party and with friends in Hen Ogledd, a band exploring the sub-Roman Old North.

 

 

 

 

Miranda Mungai

Miranda Mungai is the Festival’s new Communications Manager. She is a freelance film curator, events producer, and facilitator. In 2023 she was on the Independent Cinema Office Advisory Group, consulting on inclusion and accessibility, a Guest Curator at IMPAKT Festival, Black History Month workshop facilitator and curator at OUTPOST Gallery, and a Curatorial Fellow at the 68th Flaherty Film Seminar.

 

 

 

 

Millie McRobbie

Millie McRobbie joins the festival as Volunteer Coordinator after several years running Northern Soul Kitchen a not for profit food waste initiative here in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Her experience in the voluntary sector is extensive and community building often lies at the heart of her work. She is a Berwick Slow Food board member and has been Director of their annual Food & Beer Festival since 2022.
