Get your Festival Pass for BFMAF 2026
It’s time to secure your Festival Pass for the 21st Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, taking place in Berwick-upon-Tweed over 20th – 22nd March 2026.
As the Maltings’ undergoes redevelopment, screenings will take place in the Maltings’ Cinema at the Barracks – a smaller venue that’s allowed us to focus on making the Festival a more intimate, discursive and accessible experience. With one film at a time in one shared space, BFMAF 2026 will be an invitation to contemplate, question and take inspiration in the collective environment of the cinema.
(This does mean that we’ll have a limited capacity compared to previous years – book now to secure one of only 100 Festival Passes available!)

What’s Included?
Festival Passes provide access to the entire programme of screenings and Q&As, as well as parties, socials and discussions. Festival Passes are £55, and you can add evening meals on Friday and Saturday for £30 during checkout.
Passes Plus Meals
Join us for a communal dinner on Friday and Saturday evening, with meals provided by Dewa’s Sri Lankan Delights – a firm favourite at the annual Berwick Food and Beer Festival. There will be a concerted break in programming to prioritise time for a hearty meal in the company of the Festival community, with ample selection for those with dietary requirements. Take a look at the Sample Menu here.

Relaxed Screen
For the first time, this year we will offer a relaxed second screen as an alternative environment for audiences to experience the Festival. The screenings are designed to be more welcoming and accessible to people with additional needs, in particular neurodivergent people.
The relaxed second screen will show the same films at the same as at the Maltings’ Cinema at the Barracks and Relaxed Passes will be available for sale at the same price as a Festival Pass. Full details and tickets will be announced soon.

The Burr of Berwick Film Library
Drop into the Burr of Berwick Film Library over the Festival weekend, and experience the Queer Care Caravan – featuring a curated selection of video works and ephemera exploring queer care, including materials from Edinburgh Action for Trans Health and AIDS activism. This will be the final weekend it’s open, so don’t miss this chance to visit while you’re here!
The Queer Care Caravan is curated by Cannach MacBride, Conal McStravick and Mikiki. For last year’s Propositions programme, Conal and Mikiki turned the cinema into a green screen studio, activating media and healthcare workshop techniques and community support approaches to produce an environment of group feeling, thinking and learning. Join us for the next phase of this ongoing collaborative project.

BFMAF has always been a work-in-progress and we’re excited to continue experimenting with this next iteration.
Expect new cinema pushing against the boundaries of genre, form, and convention alongside pluralist retrospectives and performative works. Prepare for parties, conversations and Q&As. Celebrate a community of film-makers and film-goers – socialise, share food and take this chance to catch enlivening, radical, and rarely seen artists’ moving image.
